congo

So I finally did something that I’ve been thinking about doing for a while – adopting/sponsoring a kid. Well, one in a half to be exact. Melissa and I yesterday went to a party/gathering with the one of my Christian friends bosses house where the main focus was about a village in the Congo. From that meeting Melissa and I both signed up for sponsoring a child and then we went together on one. The short of it is my friends boss had it put into his heart that he should “adopt” a village in the Congo. The village that was picked has literally nothing – no clean water, poor to no medical, and most of the parents have died of AIDS. Now this wasn’t just this guy picking a village per say, this was done with the help of World Vision (www.worldvision.org), a Christian group that for 55 years has provided aid and relief to millions around the world. So with the help of World Vision, Dave and whomever he can find are adopting a village in an attempt to help the greater good. Pretty cool. So, my kid, Gendalia (a boy), was born April 4 1999 and lives in Congo. I am told that once we get 100 sponsors our sponsorship of the village will officially begin. Not to bad for $30 a month. It should be rewarding, and maybe in a few years I can take a trip to visit!
