food

America, land of the free, home of the brave and full of everything inbetween because of our inalienable rights. However, lets just say I starve my dog to death. I'd get reported to the human society who in turn would call the police. The police would arrest me for animal cruelty.

Here is a newspaper article dated March 10th 2005 to help with my point: (http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5478,12505847%255E1702,00.html):

Woman convicted for starving dog

A WOMAN who left her dog to starve in her backyard has been convicted and fined in a Sydney court.

Kerry Gaye Ross of Seven Hills failed to appear in Blacktown Local Court today but was convicted for failing to provide her Staffordshire Terrier cross, Buddy, with proper and sufficient food.
The Animal Welfare League of New South Wales (AWL) said inspectors found Buddy in "an emaciated state with his ribs, backbone and hips protruding".

The dog was taken to AWL's West Hoxton Centre for urgent veterinary treatment.

AWL said a veterinary report tendered to the court today said Buddy weighed 12kg, instead of the ideal 22-25kg for a dog of his breed and size, and had muscle atrophy.
Ross was fined $700 and was ordered to pay $985 to AWL and to pay court costs.

No order was made in relation to the custody of the dog, which is at the AWL shelter.

Today Terry Schiavo died after her body failed after 14 days with no food or water, as ordered by a district judge. Unless it was in writing that she wanted to die, someone should be arrested for murder. Sad.
